A family event – Highland games in Edinburgh

January 11, 2010 1 comment

Family get togethers are held for many reasons, and are usually fun and lively affairs. However, there are the occasional tiffs that put a strain on relationships when you have strong personalities in the one place who don’t mind speaking their mind about what each other ought to do. That’s the way it is in my family anyway, and this past Christmas was another reminder.

In my particular clan, there are usually a few family events throughout the year and the next one is going to be an organised Highland games in Edinburgh for us all to take part in. I’m looking forward to for one big reason – any minor family feuds can be settled within the Highland games activities, leaving us all time to enjoy the day. Of course, some of the family disagreements add to the enjoyment of the day, so I’d still expect some over dinner in the evening to complete a perfect day, after we’ve all had a go at tossing the caber.

Paintball games with the family

December 1, 2009 Leave a comment

It was my father’s 50th birthday recently, and to celebrate he wanted to do something different with all the family.

That’s how we ended up in muddy forest at the beginning of September, kitted out in boiler suits and protective face masks and ready to go paintballing.

It was certainly a birthday he won’t forget in a hurry. We played a range of paintball games such as “capture the flag” and “save the hostages” which were great fun as well as a no-holds barred “last man standing” style event to finish.

There are loads of different paintball companies, we found ours on the web and they help you to have a fun, but safe, day.
